For the first time, the city of Dunwoody will put on a display of 25,000 lights for the holiday season at Brook Run Park. Come enjoy the display from December 12-28 starting at 6pm. Viewing the holiday lights is free to the public.
The display of lights is being put on by the Dunwoody Parks & Recreation Department. Dunwoody Recreation Supervisor Rachel Waldron was quoted as saying; “This is a first for us, but it’s something we began imagining and planning last year,” and “With the pandemic, we think this is the right time to celebrate and connect in a different way.”
To kick off the celebration there will be a lighting ceremony. Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch will be flipping the switch on at 6pm December 12. To add to the event the characters Anna, Elsa and Olaf from “Frozen” will also be onsite until 8pm. They will be offering photos but the event has politely asked, “Please no hugs or high fives.” And that “Park visitors are invited to enjoy this light display safely by wearing masks and social distancing.”
With a two week running time you will have plenty of opportunities to check out the lights. So make sure you’re adding this to your holiday to do list for the family. Brook Run Park is located at 4770 North Peachtree Road in Dunwoody.
